This was the 1984 Christmas Cantata for the Chinese Independent Baptist Church, Oakland. I chose and assembled the pieces (from both classical and contemporary genres), designed and produced the program, and directed the choir. I have a cassette tape recording somewhere I’ll have the digitize someday. Looking back I can’t believe how ambitious we were–eighteen separate pieces! But somehow I didn’t include one of my all-time favorite pieces, John Fischer’s 1974 setting of Reginald Hebert’s “Brightest and Best.”
