Wyze Guyz Christmas Rap
by Russell Yee
(Written for and performed at the New Hope 2003 Christmas Celebration)

Wyze Guyz, Wyze Guyz, whacha’ gonna say?
Whacha’ gonna say to the baby in the hay?
Wyze Guyz, Wyze Guyz, whacha’ gonna bring?
Whacha’ gonna bring to the new born King?

1.
We’ve been checkin’ out this star that’s been leading our way
It’s the star of the King of the Jews we say
It’s a long, long journey but this looks like the end
In the City of David, in Bethlehem!
2.
Ya gotta bring a gift–ya know what I’m sayin’?
Bring a gift to the stable where this baby is layin’.
And this baby ain’t just a nephew or niece,
He’s the King of Kings and the Prince of Peace!
3.
Herod wants our help to find the baby boy
He said he wants to give the boy a toy
But Herod, we know you ain’t no baby kisser
So we’ll ditch you and we’ll make you a baby Jesus miss-er!
4.
Well I’ll bring him gold, so shiny and nice
And I’ll bring him Myrrh, a most precious spice
And I’ll bring him frankenstuff, no G-M-O
But the best gift of all is myself!  Yo!  Yo!
5.
Don’t need no Baby Gap, Toy’s R Us, or Gymboree
No Costco, Amazon, or Shop At Home T.V.
You need an even better gift, the best that you are able,
You need to bring yourself to the Baby in the stable!
6.
I’ll give him my hands and give him my heart
And give him my time and my treasure-that’s a start
And I’ll give him every hope, every hurt and every dream,
And give my whole life to him, that ain’t too extreme!
YO!  YOU BETTER GET  YOUR  GIFT  READY !

“Royals”
Original by Ella Yelich O’Connor aka Lorde; and Joel Little; adapted lyrics by Russell Yee

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

2 Timothy 2:12 . . . if we endure,  we will also reign with him.

I’ve never seen an angel in the flesh
I cut my teeth on Sunday School, and InterVarsity
I’m somewhat proud of my address
Here in The Town, some zip code envy

And every prayer’s like: clean streets, safe schools,
                families full of hope, and
Homes and jobs and Jesus showing up, and,
Yes we care, we’re riding bicycles in our dreams
But everybody’s like, “Why you live there?” yeah it’s kindof crazy
But with Jesus, no time to be lazy
Yes we care, we are caught up in a life of prayer

And we’re gonna be Royals
We are children of the King
A chosen people made for praise
A royal priesthood all our days
Let me be a ruler (ruler)
Jesus is the King of me
And truly we’ll rule (we’ll rule, we’ll rule)
Gonna reign eternally

Jesus says to suffer by his side
Counting dollars on the way to the Dollar Tree
And here there’s too much hurt to hide
                so we stay right here,
We don’t live for money

And every prayer’s like: clean streets, safe schools,
                families full of hope, and
Homes and jobs and Jesus showing up, and,
Yes we care, we’re riding bicycles in our dreams
But everybody’s like, “Why you live there?” yeah it’s kindof crazy
But with Jesus, no time to be lazy
Yes we care, we are caught up in a life of prayer

And we’re gonna be Royals
We are children of the King
A chosen people made for praise
A royal priesthood all our days
Let me be a ruler (ruler)
Jesus is the King of me
And truly we’ll rule (we’ll rule, we’ll rule)
Gonna reign eternally

  Better than we ever dreamed
The gift we’re getting’ from the King
  Gotta suffer with the King
    To join him rulin’ everything
